Daniel & Jemimah · Dar es Salaam
I did not set out to become a traveller. It started much smaller than that. I wanted to know what was around me.
So I began leaving Dar es Salaam whenever I could, taking weekend trips, driving further than I had planned, finding places I had never heard of and slowly working my way across Tanzania. One region became another, then another, until exploring the country became something I could no longer imagine stopping.
Over the years, I have travelled through all 31 regions of Tanzania. I have climbed mountains, walked through forests, stood beside waterfalls, explored old ruins and archaeological sites, crossed lakes, followed coastlines and driven roads that rarely make it onto a tourist itinerary. The more I travelled, the more I realised I barely knew it at all.
Roads that rarely make it onto a tourist itinerary. Landscapes I did not know my own country held.

And then, somewhere along the way, came my wife, Jemimah.
I had spent years travelling mostly within Tanzania, learning how to find adventure close to home. She pushed me into a different kind of travelling. Together, we started looking beyond the borders, and suddenly the map became much bigger. In just two years, we have travelled through 15 countries, and what began as my journey has become ours.
She is now my lifelong travel partner.

Where we've wandered
I travel to discover, and I write to remember.
Travel is no longer simply about how many places I can reach or how many countries I can add to a map. It is about the stories that happen along the way, the places that make us stop and wonder, the meals we remember, the roads we almost did not take, and the moments that become part of our shared history.
I am interested in places, but even more interested in what makes them worth remembering. A landscape with a story behind it. A forgotten building that reveals something about the past. A road that leads somewhere unexpected. This is my record of what I find along the way, from Tanzania to wherever the road takes us next.
Wherever the road leads
A landscape with a story behind it. A road that leads somewhere unexpected.
There is always more to discover.
Work with me
I help travellers plan trips across East and Southern Africa and beyond, from itineraries to advisory calls to custom guides, built on years of covering these places firsthand.
Beyond travel, I work in data, product and innovation, with experience at Ifakara Health Institute, UNDP, YLabs and CRDB Bank. That same rigour goes into how I plan a journey.
